Status:

Found solitary or in small groups on ground under hardwoods.

Description:

Cap: Orange-yellow to brownish-yellow, darker in center; convex to flat with depressed center; appressed radiating scales; remnants of ring may hang from edge; viscid to dry; flesh white. Gills: Off-white becoming gray-brown, eventually purplish-brown; close. Stalk: White to dirty yellow; sticky when young, dry, slightly scaly to nearly smooth in age; persistent white ring; some have slightly bulbous base; white rhizomorphs. (J. Solem, pers. comm.)
