Found in dry oak woodlands and barrens (BugGuide).
BugGuide and Wagner each point out that the larvae are similar to A. aflicta. Wagner states A. aflicta has a single pair of clubbed setae per segment, while A. brumosa has two pairs per segment.
Host plants are oaks.
