Found in solitary, scattered, groups on well-rotted woody debris in hardwood or mixed forests.
Fruiting body: Small, white / buff; cylindrical to somewhat flattened white branches with brown tips in age; fibrous, tough, often fused at bases, tops may be intertwined. Stalk: White to light brown, smooth; flesh white, tough. Several of these small, sparingly-branched corals cannot be safely identified by macro characteristics alone. (J. Solem, pers. comm.)
