Found solitary or in groups fused together; on ground or decaying wood under conifers.
Fruiting body: Tan, rusty-brown; dry, velvety/matted hairs, coarsely wrinkled, uneven or smooth; exudes yellow liquid when fresh; circular/fan-shaped; margin blunt (wavy or irregular in age); flesh yellowish to rusty-brown, fibrous, tough. Pores: Buff to grayish-brown (in age). Stalk: Ochraceous to dark brown; central/off center/lateral, cylindrical/irregular, velvety (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
