Status:

"A low shrub of dry to mesic, sandy, oak-pine-heath woods primarily of the Atlantic coastal plain, ranging from eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware south to Georgia" (Simmons, 2013). In Maryland, it is known only from sandy woods of the Eastern Shore and Baltimore County.
