Status:

Found solitary or in groups on ground in forests.

Description:

Cap: Yellow-orange; dry, felted; wrinkled/pitted in age; margin wavy; flesh white, thick, firm, stains orange-yellow. Fertile surface: Creamy-white/yellow-orange spines that darken when rubbed. Stalk: White with orange tints or colored like cap; nearly equal; solid; bruises orange-yellow (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
