Found in groups on decaying hardwood.

Description:

Sterile cup: Brown (white and brown in age); smooth; concentrically zoned; cup may persist after fading to white; during fruiting period cup is attached to a light-colored, fan/kidney-shaped ,wavy cap containing angular whitish to yellow pores (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
