The cold front that pushed through last night brought a large number of migrant songbirds through Turkey Point this morning. Most exciting were the 273 Cape May Warblers that Daniel counted. Seriously, that is A LOT of Cape May Warblers! Cape May Warblers breed in the boreal forest and migrate south to their wintering grounds in the West Indies and the Caribbean Coast of Mexico and Central America.

According to Cornell University, “During migration, they turn up in just about any woods, scrub, or even thicket. Look for them toward the edges, where insects and their larvae are most abundant.”
