Puritan Tiger Beetle by Mike Ostrowski

About Records

Maryland Biodiversity is excited to present county records on species pages and now for any checklist. At this time, known county records can be considered just about complete for birds, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies, and tiger beetles. We welcome input on anything that you think may be missing or inaccurate in those categories. On the species pages, these records tables will eventually be transformed into county range maps. Specific records will not be exposed publicly, which will ensure protection of sensitive sites and species.

If you would like to share observations, the best way is now via iNaturalist. All photos submitted for Maryland are automatically added to our project and queued for review and possible ingest into MBP! We are also happy to discuss any special cases and large data sets.

Note that Maryland Biodiversity shares data from a variety of extremely useful references. We do not intend to duplicate or replace these valuable services, and we defer to their owners as the authoritative sources. Any mistakes here are ours and users are encouraged to double-check records on these sites. Records are provided here for convenience and to help promote interest in studying all areas of Maryland Biodiversity. New records gathered in the course of preparing this site will be passed to compilers of such lists for appropriate vetting.
