A rather common leprose lichen that has an interesting history. It was originally introduced by R. C. Harris in 1977 and subsequently appeared in a number of publications, but was not officially described until 2000. (L. Biechele, pers. comm.)
Its distinctive greenish thallus, appearing bluish in the shade, forms thin, continuous sheets on the bark of trees with a conspicuous white prothallus, forming a pruinose fringe along the edges of the lichen. Apothecia are rare (R. C. Harris, et al., The Bryologist, 2000). (L. Biechele, pers. comm.)
