Saw Greenbrier is a plant of the Coastal Plain. It is uncommon, occurring on "dry or moist dunes, fields, woods and thickets" (Brown and Brown, 1972).
Mature leaves often have broad, rounded basal lobes, distinguishing this species from Common and Glaucous Greenbriers.
